Bath Song

I understand that the concept of "cleanliness" varies from culture to culture. I think that each culture decides for itself what makes something dirty, and how to clean it.

As best as I understand, I just spent 4 weeks in a place where hot water does not have the ability to clean properly. Everyone takes cold showers only. Yikes!

We had a "widow maker" almost exactly like this one. It was much better than a cold shower, Gracias a Dios, but not a hot shower.

Needless to say, one of the things I'm enjoying is a hot shower every morning now. I am very thankful for my hot water, as are my Costa Rican friends for their cold showers. In celebration of hot showers, I record one of Bilbo's favorite bath songs sung by Pippin in Crickhollow.

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
